PEREZ, J.
Pursuant to prevailing jurisprudence, a modification on the award of damages is in order. In line with our ruling in People of the Philippines v. Domingo Gallano y Jaranilla,[35] we reduce the amount of civil indemnity and moral damages to P50,000.00 each. However, we award exemplary damages in the amount of P30,000.00. When a crime is committed with an aggravating circumstance either as qualifying or generic, an award of exemplary damages is justified under Article 2230 of the New Civil Code. In addition, interest at the rate of 6% per annum shall be imposed on all damages awarded from the date of the finality of this judgment until fully paid.[36]
