JOCELYN V. GRAGEDA v. JUDGE NIETO T. TRESVALLES

This case has been cited 1 times or more.

2006-05-04
CALLEJO, SR., J.
The Code of Judicial Conduct provides that a judge should be the embodiment of competence, integrity and independence,[20] and should be faithful to the law and maintain professional competence.[21] When a judge displays an utter unfamiliarity with the law and the rules, he erodes the confidence of the public in the courts. Thus, he or she must be proficient in the law, and is expected to keep abreast of laws and prevailing jurisprudence, considering that ignorance thereof can easily be the mainspring of injustice.[22]
