| Complete candor or honesty is thus expected from lawyers, particularly when they appear and plead before the courts.[44] They have an obligation to the court as well as to the opposing party to make only truthful statements in their pleadings.[45] The burden cast on the judiciary would be intolerable if it could not take at face value what is asserted by counsel.
