As discussed above, Mr. Teves is here guilty of two counts of simple neglect of duty. Simple neglect of duty is defined as the "failure of an employee to give one's attention to a task expected of him, and signifies a disregard of a duty resulting from carelessness or indifference.[53] Under the Revised Uniform Rules on Administrative Cases in the Civil Service, simple neglect of duty is a less grave offense penalized with suspension for one month and one day to six months for the first offense, and dismissal for the second.[54]
